Early Childhood Education is a fundamental
phase in children’s educational
development.

It is in the early years of life that the foundations for cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills are established.

During this stage, we welcome students aged from 1 year and 4 months to 5 years old, completed by March 31st of the year of enrollment, as, established by the Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) through the National Council of Education.

EAV’s Preschool is also a bilingual program with English immersion, and literacy is taught in both English and Portuguese using a phonics method. This approach aims to teach through the association between letters and sounds. In other words, it makes children understand how letters and sounds correspond to form spelling patterns and helps them to apply this understanding to reading.

Advantages of bilingualism

Your brain has a cognitive system responsible for keeping you focused on what is relevant, ignoring distractions, like a general manager. If you are immersed and regularly use two languages, the cognitive system needs to classify and attend to what is relevant at the moment. Therefore, bilingual individuals use this system more, making it more efficient and flexible.

Methodology

With the Project-Based Learning (PBL – Project Based Learning), EAV places the student at the center of learning, making the pursuit of knowledge more interesting and interactive. The school’s proposal is to engage students in a way that constantly sparks curiosity for them to discover answers.

Preschool students have various workshop classes in their routine, depending on their age, such as physical education, arts, music, nutrition, numeracy (early math learning), computational thinking, and IEYC.

International Curriculum

The IEYC – International Early Years Curriculum is designed for early childhood education (children aged 2 to 5 years) and employs international best practices, holistic inquiries, and play-based approaches that support all curricular areas, as well as personal, social, and emotional development. The program is also guided by eight principles that encompass play, the developmental time of each child, and the stimulating, engaging, and enjoyable learning process.

Each IEYC unit of learning has been carefully crafted around a central theme, holistically incorporating all four learning strands into relevant and captivating activities that can be adapted and extended to meet individual needs.

Nutrition

Healthy eating is one of EAV’s pillars , and the menu is developed by our nutritionist. There is no supply of ultra-processed foods and sugars;the daily routine includes the offering of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and the consumption of fibers.

EAV also has a space dedicated to growing organic food in the green area.

Classes at EAV follow the American full-day schedule from

8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Morning class option for
Toddler 1, 2 and 3: 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Toddler 1

Children from 1 year and four months complete by March 31 of the entry year.

Toddler 2

Children 2 years old by March 31 of the entry year.

Toddler 3

Children 3 years old by March 31 of the entry year.

Pre-K

Children 4 years old by March 31 of the entry year.

Kinder

Children 5 years old by March 31 of the entry year.

After regular class hours, students from Toddler 3 to Kinder can participate in extracurricular activities – our After School sports program.
