High School

It includes classes from 9th to 12th grade,*
where we welcome students aged 14 to 17 years old.

The High School includes classes from 9th to 12th grade, welcoming children aged 14 to 17, completed by March 31 of the entry year, as specified by the Ministry of Education (MEC) through the National Council of Education.

*In the American curriculum, the 9th grade is part of High School.

The High School program at EAV is bilingual with English immersion. Consequently, most subjects are taught in English, except for the core subjects of Portuguese, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Physical Education, which are conducted in Portuguese.

Advantages of bilingualism

Your brain has a cognitive system responsible for keeping you focused on what is relevant, ignoring distractions, like a general manager.

If you are immersed and regularly use two languages, the cognitive system needs to classify and attend to what is relevant at the moment. Therefore, bilingual individuals use this system more, making it more efficient and flexible.

Brazilian High School

The High School will follow the international curriculum parameters adopted at EAV, aligned with Brazilian Law 13,415/2017, which stipulates that the curriculum of the New High School be composed of a portion called Basic General Education (BGE), divided into four knowledge areas:

Language and its technologies;
Mathematics and its technologies;
Natural Sciences and its technologies;
Human and Social Applied Sciences.

In addition to Basic General Education, there are Formative Itineraries (IFs) – a flexible part of the curriculum – which should be organized into different arrangements based on relevance to the local context and the possibilities of the education systems

Methodology

With the Project-Based Learning(PBL – Project Based Learning) , EAV places the student at the center of learning, making the pursuit of knowledge more interesting and interactive. The school’s proposal is to engage students in a way that constantly sparks curiosity for them to discover answers.

EAV Innovators

The EAV Innovators is the innovation track developed in partnership with Hugb – the Innovation Hub of the Buaiz Group.

It is an initiative to foster exchange between the school and the corporate world. Through these exchanges, students can undertake activities aligned with the formative path they will define when composing their high school curriculum.

Within this framework, they gain access to the day-to-day operations of companies and institutions, as well as insight into their processes and how they address current issues in various fields. The objective is to broaden their knowledge and assist them in making informed decisions about their careers.

Summer
Camps

Summer Camps are widely practiced academic summer activities in the United States, Canada, and Europe. That is an opportunity for students to develop their academic, cultural, and sports skills, enhance their resumes, and engage in significant group experiences. It’s also a chance for them to furtherimmerse themselves in the English language, which is already a daily part of their lives at the Escola Americana de Vitória.

During Summer Camp, students may attend university classes aligned with their skills or prospects, participate in sports, and visit museums and landmarks.

It’s a rich experience contributing to students’ life projects and refining interpersonal and socio-emotional skills

Nutrition

A healthy diet is one of the pillars of EAV, and the menu is prepared by our nutritionist. There is no offering of ultra-processed foods, and the daily routine includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and proteins.

EAV also has a space dedicated to growing organic food in the green area.
