The Elementary School includes classes from 1st to 5th grade, welcoming children aged 6 to 10, completed by March 31 of the entry year, as specified by theMinistry of Education (MEC) through the National Council of Education.

In EAV, the Elementary School is bilingual with English immersion, meaning that subjects are taught in English, except for Portuguese, Geography, and Physical Education, which are conducted in Portuguese.

Advantages of bilingualism

Your brain has a cognitive system responsible for keeping you focused on what is relevant, ignoring distractions, like a general manager.

If you are immersed and regularly use two languages, the cognitive system needs to classify and attend to what is relevant at the moment. Therefore, bilingual individuals use this system more, making it more efficient and flexible.

Methodology

With the Project-Based Learning (PBL – Project Based Learning), EAV places the student at the center of learning, making the pursuit of knowledge more interesting and interactive. The school’s proposal is to engage students in a way that constantly sparks curiosity for them to discover answers.

Elementary School students have various workshop classes in their routine, depending on their age, such as arts, music, nutrition, computational thinking, and IPC.

International Curriculum

In the Elementary School, the international curriculum adopted by EAV is the IPC – International Primary Curriculum It is designed for children aged 5 to 11, , preparing them to be globally competent, socially aware, and motivated individuals who positively contribute to the world they live in.

The IPC is an independent curriculum that works interdisciplinary and thematically across various knowledge areas. Students focus on curriculum, personal, and international objectives creatively and engagingly through different subjects. This curriculum is enhanced by professional development and support services provided by the International Curriculum Association (ICA).

Computational Thinking

The computational thinking classes foster creativity, teach students to collaborate, work as a team across physical and geographical boundaries, and communicate in a universal language. EAV uses cutting-edge resources to bring students closer to technology.

Using tools like Cubetto, Scratch, and Swift, we introduce our students to computational thinking in an engaging and age-appropriate way. This interactive approach helps them develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity, while ensuring that the learning experience is tailored to the needs of each age group.

Nutrition

A healthy diet is one of the pillars of EAV, and the menu is prepared by our nutritionist. There is no offering of ultra-processed foods, and the daily routine includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, legumes, and proteins.

EAV also has a space dedicated to growing organic food in the green area.
